What is a polymer processing technician?

Polymers shape the modern world—from aerospace to medical devices.

As a Polymer Processing Technician, you’ll work with materials at the frontier of innovation.

Whether developing sustainable plastics, testing material properties, or optimising manufacturing processes, you’ll gain the skills to make an impact in this fast-moving industry.

What will I learn?

This programme is built for those who don’t just want a job—they want to master a craft. Whether you’re an existing team member or a fresh recruit, you’ll develop the technical expertise, precision, and problem-solving skills to thrive in polymer manufacturing.

You’ll become a specialist in polymer processing—understanding the science behind materials used in everything from aerospace to medical devices. You’ll learn how to set up, operate, monitor, and shut down processing equipment with confidence, making sure every product meets strict quality standards.

From extrusion and injection moulding to thermoforming and blow moulding, you’ll get hands-on experience with cutting-edge manufacturing techniques. You’ll master process control, safety compliance, and quality assurance, ensuring operations run smoothly and efficiently.

But it’s not just about technical skills. You’ll sharpen your ability to work as part of a high-performance team, solve problems on the fly, and communicate effectively. You’ll develop the resilience, adaptability, and attention to detail that set top technicians apart.

By the end of this apprenticeship, you won’t just be working in polymer processing—you’ll be owning it.
