Meet Sarah Boyd
Decisive. Driven. Determined.
Sarah Boyd is the kind of leader who makes things happen. As Director of Apprenticeships at Tiro, she brings deep experience in apprenticeship strategy, quality improvement and employer engagement—shaped by years in senior roles across the FE and skills sector.
Before joining Tiro, Sarah was Assistant Principal at Wigan & Leigh College, where she led a large, award-winning apprenticeship provision supporting over 2,000 apprentices and 800+ employers. Her leadership delivered five years of continuous improvement, national awards.
She’s obsessed with apprenticeship training because it actually works, responding to meet real employer needs, and providing programmes that open doors for learners. Whether developing bespoke upskilling initiatives, securing DfE funding, or presenting best practice at national events, Sarah leads with energy and purpose.
Her roots? They’re in the fitness world. A former personal trainer, coach and studio manager, Sarah’s always believed in helping people push their limits and reach their potential. That mindset still shapes her work today—supporting teams, driving change and raising standards.
Outside work, she’s powered by movement: walking in the Lakes, lifting in the gym, and planning adventures.
At Tiro, Sarah’s focus is simple: build bold, effective, future-ready apprenticeships that deliver for learners and employers alike. She brings clarity, confidence and a no-nonsense approach—and she’s always ready to challenge the status quo.
