Tell us about you and your job role:
I am a Laboratory Technician apprentice. My job is to carry out testing on construction materials ensuring quality and compliance with British and EU standards. Before I started my apprenticeship I was working in a pub in London.
What inspired you to start the apprenticeship?
I came across the role online, I wanted to move jobs and enter a job that offered more progression.
What are your aspirations for the future?
I want to progress to a high-level role, ending with becoming a materials engineer.
What do you enjoy about the apprenticeship?
The best part of the apprenticeship is that I can learn on the job without any student debt. I also enjoy the practical learning.
What do your friends and family think about the apprenticeship?
My friends and family think its a really good way to enter the industry and learn on the job. They believe since I started the apprenticeship I am much more organised and have much better time management.
What advice would you give to other people thinking about starting an apprenticeship?
Go for it. It’s the best way to gain experience without getting into student debt. Learning on the job is good for people that are practical.
