Parents should be able to take their children away in term time as there are occasions when they can learn more on a family holiday than in class, a leading prep school head has said.
According to Nick Bevington, head of Town Close School in Norwich, there are other ways to learn beyond just the classroom and teachers should be more flexible to facilitate this learning.
In his view, a “narrow prescription” where children are never allowed to take time off during term time is hindering pupils from valuable life lessons.
