How much? You’ll earn £16,679.52 a year, plus you will receive all the training and support you need to become a qualified Level 3 Information Communications Technician.

 

 

You’ll join Glenthorne High School as an apprentice Information Communication Technician for a fixed period of 21 months.  

Willow Learning Trust have their own in-house ICT Support team consisting of the Trust Network Manager, Ser-vice Manager, Senior Technician and two Apprentice technicians. The team support the teaching and learning across all three Trust Schools. Whilst based at Glenthorne High School we provide support out in the field to our two primary schools, with timetabled visits to carry out fault fixing and installations. We work in a proactive, demanding environment with a strong emphasis on learning and developing. Current projects include updating our network switching and are always looking for ways to improve our infrastructure.

You’ll also devote about 20% of your time to working towards a Level 3 Information Communications Technician apprenticeship. You’ll be trained by an expert tutor from Tiro, who will make sure you develop the knowledge, skills, and work habits you’ll need to succeed in your apprenticeship.

To provide technical and software support to a busy secondary school and partner primary schools.

Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Network Manager, you will be responsible for:
• Acting as first point of contact for IT issues.
• Supporting the management and maintenance of the school networks.
• Maintaining computers, Whiteboard and projectors.
• Installing and maintaining software systems as required.
• Stock control and upkeep of related records and inventory.
• Supporting staff and pupils during lesson as required.
• Maintaining internet access, websites used and permissions granted
• Maintaining user accounts across systems
• Diagnosing and resolving hardware, software and end user problems.
• Supervising and running the connection to the Internet.
• Managing and developing the use of IPads including related apps that support learning in the schools
• Undertaking periodic safety checks on equipment and materials, reporting findings to Network Man-ager.
• Working with teachers to develop IT skills across the curriculum
• Managing anti-virus software
• The successful candidate will be required to attend training courses as appropriate including in-house training.
• Carry out other duties of a similar nature from time to time as maybe required by the Headteacher.

  1. Experience of working in a customer focused environment (desired)
  2. Experience working with IT hardware either at home or in the workplace (desired)
    3. Confident in use of software packages including emails and Microsoft packages (desired)
    4. Ability to work as part of a team and organise/prioritise own workload (essential)
    5. Able to adapt and be flexible to the requirements of the Trust schools (essential)

Qualifications: 

  • 3 GCSEs at grades C/4 or above (or equivalent) including maths and English

 

What next?

Previous apprentices have gone on to IT Technician roles within the Trust, and on to IT degrees at university. The Trust would hope to be able to offer employment into the role of IT Technician on completion of their apprenticeship.
